Poster Contest / Coloring Contest

The fire company is holding two contests to be judged at the 2011 open house, on. October 12, 2011.

Coloring Contest

Available for Eastern York Elementary School Students, and Locust Grove Elementary School Students.

Coloring page, and Information/Rules can be found under the Kids & Teens section of the website.

Poster Contest

Available to Eastern York High School and Middle School Students.

Create a poster with fire company theme.
Rules and Information can also be found under the Kids & Teens section at the top of the site.

One poster from the high school and one from the middle school will be selected, along with one coloring page, by the public, and their poster/coloring page will be put on display at the department. Their name’s with parent permission will be placed on our website and sign.

We would also like to thank Nevin Flinchbaugh with N Corporate Designs for designing the coloring page for Yorkana Fire Company.

Our department has been invited to attend the East Prospect Fire Company’s Easter Egg Hunt.  Saturday. From 11am – 4pm.

We will have demonstrations of our rescue tools, also there will be Easter eggs for the kids. Our Junior fire department will be present to talk to kids ages 14-18 years of age about what it is the juniors do in the department. Over 18years of age speak with the senior members. Remember fighting fire is not the only way you can be in the fire department, and help your community. Come see us at east prospect’s departmen

Chief’s Report – 361 Barcroft Road, LWT – Box 38-610 – Brush Fire Involving A Structure

Summary:
A brush fire starting from a pellet stove exhaust pipe which ignited leaves under a porch. The leaves caused the porch and siding to catch fire. The fire then spread into the woods with help from strong winds. Approximately five acres burnt, with an approximated $4000 in damage to property. Other structures were threatened but not damaged. 10 Departments responded with mutual aid.
